In collaboration between the Global Schools Program, the United Nations Association of the USA Chapter in Puerto Rico (UNA-USA Puerto Rico), and the Department of Education of Puerto Rico, a training workshop focused on integrating the SDGs into classrooms was conducted for 50 social studies teachers was conducted. The workshop aimed to equip the attending educators with the tools to develop lesson plans tailored to Puerto Rico’s local context, using Global Schools' lesson plans and guidelines as a reference.
Following the workshop, new pedagogical resources in Spanish were developed, focusing on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). These resources utilize the Global Schools’ curriculum and lesson planning frameworks to engage students and deepen their understanding of sustainability issues.
These resources are now available for educators in Puerto Rico and other Spanish-speaking regions: Lección: Ciudades y Comunidades Sostenibles and Lección: Acción por el Clima.
