Dr. Helen Bond, Co-chair of SDSN USA, and Alainna Lynch, Research Manager of SDSN USA, joined the host of SDG Talks Podcast to discuss recent racial inequality report, In the Red: the US Failure to Deliver on a Promise of Racial Inequality, as well as SDSN USA’s other work on diversity, equity, and justice.
During the discussion, the In the Red report co-authors shared the findings of the racial inequality index, providing a snapshot of where the US is now, and how far it has left to go to achieve the SDGs and fulfill its promise of leaving no one behind in the process.
They also discussed how the findings of the report are built on historical inequality in the US. Reflecting on this, as has been done in the Never More Urgent and In the Red reports, is important, Dr. Bond says, because “you really cannot make policies for the present and look forward to a better future without really acknowledging what happened in the past.”
SDG Talks Podcast connects changemakers around the world on their commendable work towards achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Guests share actionable steps the general public can take, with past episodes exploring leadership across the SDGs.
