Manuela Zamora has been the Executive Director of NY Sun Works – an award-winning education nonprofit – since 2012. Manuela is a native of Bolivia where she had extensive experience in sustainable development projects. As the director of NY Sun Works, she has worked to provide hands-on sustainability science and climate education for NYC students through the installation and operation of hydroponic science labs/farm classrooms and the accompanying standards-based, K-12 curriculum, building over 250+ public school partnerships across the 5 boroughs and metropolitan New Jersey. Manuela is a tireless advocate for robust sustainability education for our next generation of science innovators and leaders, most recently sitting on the Food Policy Transition Team for New York City Mayor Eric Adams. She has also presented before the US House of Representatives Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, the World Environmental Education Conference in Prague, and the North America Association for Environmental Education Conference in Tucson.
